What a crazy time for retail. For the last five years, we have diligently called for grocery stores EVERY week for retail onion prices and we have never been turned down. Not once.
Now, everything has changed. Understandably, produce managers don’t have the time, nor the inventory to report. For the most part, big chains have inventory. However, some do not. Prices seem to be normal but retailers are finding it hard to keep up with the daily demand.
We value our hardworking retailers and all that they do to help feed America during these trying times. That said, if you find us taking a break from our Retail Snapshots, don’t be surprised. We would do so only to give these dedicated produce managers some space. It is so important that they are allowed to focus on doing their jobs during these very difficult and trying times.
