AgBiome, a leader in agricultural innovation and Certified B Corporation, announced on July 6 the addition of Nilay Thakar, Ph.D., to its board of directors.
Thakar joins the board with a background in company creation, identifying and evaluating new life sciences technologies, and operational assistance with early-stage portfolio companies. He is currently a principal with ARCH Venture Partners and co-founder of Skylark Bio where he serves as the head of business development.
“We are proud to welcome Nilay Thakar as a member of our well-rounded board of directors,” said Scott Uknes, co-CEO, and co-founder of AgBiome. “The experience he brings to our team in biotechnology and life sciences, both from a business and scientific viewpoint, is invaluable.”
Thakar has authored eight peer-reviewed publications with greater than 250 citations in the areas of neuroscience, stem cell biology, intracellular signaling, and epigenetics. Prior to his role with ARCH Venture Partners, Thakar led the turnaround of Australian biotech startup Stem Cells Limited, served as a think tank advisor at the Australian Academy of Sciences, and worked as an analyst at Dendright, a biotech startup that develops personalized immunotherapy.
“I am thrilled to be joining the AgBiome board of directors,” said Thakar. “It is a great opportunity to work with a forward-thinking company as they grow and improve the agriculture industry through their innovative microbial approach.”
