G&R Farms in Glennville, GA, announced on Nov. 14 the operation’s new management under Blake Dasher.
Dasher issued a statement that said, “The news of the last week has provided no lack of speculation within the Vidalia and onion industry. We are aware of the alleged claims against Walt Dasher, a former employee of G&R Farms. The legal nature of this issue is related to him as an individual. G&R Farms is not connected to this issue, not involved in any illegal activities or under investigation by any law enforcement or government organization.”
It continued, “Effective Nov. 8, 2022, Gerald (Walt) Dasher, former Chief Operating Officer of G&R Farms was placed on indefinite administrative leave and removed from all duties and responsibilities at G&R Farms. Walt Dasher was an employee of the company and did not have any ownership interest in the company.
“Blake Dasher, son of Robert Dasher, a G&R owner, has served on the board of directors of G&R Farms and in management of other family-owned businesses. He has taken on the leadership and management control of G&R Farms and all other employee relationships remain the same.”
The statement continued, “We know moments like this raise questions about current and future business operations. We are here to assure the entire industry these changes have had no impact on current or future operations and G&R Farms will continue to operate as a year-round sweet onion supplier. We have provided full transparency to our customers, growers, and vendors and continue to receive their support.”
