COLORADO – Western Slope/UT:
Don Ed Holmes of The Onion House in Weslaco, TX, told us that recent rain on the Western Slope and in Utah had slowed harvest. “Colorado is about 20 percent in, and (Corinne) Utah is about 50 percent in,” he said on Sept. 27. “We plan to start up again on Monday, Oct. 3, and finish in the next two weeks.”
Mike Davis at Tex-Mex Sales LLC in Weslaco said his company is now planting its 2017 1015s. “We started planting last week, and though we got a little rain the last couple of days, we expect to get back in the fields tomorrow,” Mike said on Sept. 28. He added that “things are right on schedule” for planting.
