G&R Farms’ third annual charitable ‘Season of Giving’ promotion, which partnered during November December with three regional retail operators throughout the United States, raised some $8,000 in donations for three charities and food banks, according to a Feb. 17 G&R press release.
During the Season of Giving, G&R Farms works with participating retailers, each of which chooses its charity or food bank partner within its own community, and G&R Farms donates a portion of proceeds from all Peruvian onions sold during the promotion period at that retail outlet.
“We are proud to have continued this program in 2022,” said G&R CEO Blake Dasher. “Giving back is at the core of who we are at G&R Farms, and we’re grateful to have retail partners who feel the same.”
He continued, “Concern over food affordability is rampant in our country, with Feeding America reporting 34 million people in the U.S. currently experiencing food insecurity, reaching 100 percent of U.S. counties. That is an incredible burden that we are honored to help alleviate in any way we can.”
A third-generation family farm, G&R takes its responsibility as an industry leader seriously and prioritizes giving back. Season of Giving, along with G&R’s spring/summer Growing America’s Farmer campaign, collectively raised more than $120,000 during the 2022 fiscal year to support community food organizations, as well as provide grants and scholarships for future agriculture professionals.
Dasher closed by saying, “2022 was a record-breaking charitable year for us. We’ve already started planning for our 2023 charitable projects, and we’re looking to break records, again.”
