Our friend Robert Bell with Western Onion in Camarillo, CA, shared a recent update and some photos of New Zealand onions with us.
David Kana with New Zealand Onion Co. provided the info to Robert on Sept. 26, starting with, “After an eventful 2024 season, Hope your all well and looking forward to a Christmas break.”
David said, “Pukekohe Onion crops mostly ELK [early long day keepers], are growing evenly and without issues [with] good rain fall to date. Some recent isolated hail did some damage but nothing of major concern.”
He added, “Looking ahead to average to above average yields and excellent quality.” Our thanks to Robert and David for the update.
