In addition to showcasing its popular Wicked Sweet tearless red onions and making excellent use of networking opportunities provided by the recent International Fresh Produce Association’s inaugural convention in Orlando, Owyhee Produce also went live with its redesigned website during the event.
According to Bailey Myers, the family-owned and operated company based in Nyssa, OR, and Parma, ID, worked in partnership with a California web design company, and she and Owyhee Produce’s marketing team designed the www.owyheeproduce.com new look.
“We love how it looks with this launch,” Bailey said. “We are still tweaking a few bugs, but we are loving the overall look and hoping that it will provide the much-needed education and info in one clean and easy-to-navigate site.”
Bailey added the team is happy with the traffic since it went live, “but we are always looking for ways to grow it.” She said, “We are going to do some promotions once we’re confident we’ve found all the bugs, and we are sure we will see even more traffic than we are now.”
“Traffic” was also a key point at the IFPA convention and expo, And Bailey said the company’s booth provided a good setting to connect or reconnect with a good number of visitors.
“We always love making new connections but see a lot of value in catching up with our customers,” she said. “We believe there is a difference in how we gain customers and how we take care of our existing ones. That was the motivation behind this year’s booth design.”
She added, “We ‘think outside the box’ at Owyhee Produce and wanted to welcome our valued customers and those who thought outside the box into ‘our box’ as we work together. This show gives great opportunities to gain new customers and also helps us put a face to the names that we work with daily.”
And Bailey said the show is a great place to broaden horizons. “The opportunities to network with people who may be in a different commodity but understand the ag world is great.” The Myers/Froerer family of Owyhee Produce is also keen on new products. “We always love seeing what new things are coming into the market and what we can look forward to,” Bailey said. “This year we had a showcase featuring our Wicked Sweet red onions, and we made it to ‘Best Overall Product Promo Finalist,’ so seeing the other showcases was fun. Having our Wicked Sweets make it to the finalist round was an added bonus.”
