A fire that broke out during the night of Sept. 25 at Central Produce in Payette, ID, caused minimal damage to the loading dock, and operations were back at full speed within a short time.
According to a press release from Central’s partner company, Eagle Eye Produce based in Idaho Falls, the fire was extinguished quickly, and an investigation into the cause is ongoing.
A Sept. 30 press release from Eagle Eye said that no injuries were reported, and “emergency crews quickly responded to contain the fire. The fire affected only a small area on the loading dock, with the facility itself remaining untouched. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
The release continued, “Eagle Eye Produce is pleased to announce that as of [Sept. 30], the facility is 100 percent back up and running, with only two days of downtime, thanks to the hard work of the crews at Central Produce, who worked tirelessly to recover quickly.
“Support from neighboring sheds in Idaho and Oregon has been overwhelming, with many helping to fill orders and offering assistance. The produce industry truly is a strong community, and Eagle Eye Produce expresses gratitude for the generosity and support.
Minimal customers were affected, and the company extends its appreciation to those impacted for their understanding and continued support. With additional warehouses in the region, Eagle Eye Produce was able to minimize disruptions and maintain smooth operations.”
The company added, “Eagle Eye Produce is incredibly grateful to the emergency responders for their quick action and dedication, as well as to everyone who has reached out with support during this time. A special thank you goes to the entire Central Produce team for their hard work and commitment in getting operations back up and running so quickly.”
