Fresh organic yellows from Peri and Sons’ Imperial Valley facility started shipping on Friday, April 29, according to Jessica Peri. The operation distributes primarily to retail, with 80 percent going to that market segment and 20 percent to foodservice.
Jessica said volume this year is “status quo,” but she noted that plans are to increase next year to meet growing demand. The Imperial Valley deal, which includes reds, whites, yellows, sweet yellows and organic reds and yellows, will run to mid-June, Jessica said.
The company also grows and ships from Firebaugh, CA, in the San Joaquin Valley, with reds, whites and yellows starting in June. Peri and Sons’ Yerington, NV, onions will start shipping later in the season.
