More than 100 representatives from the global onion industry are registered to exhibit at the 2017 PMA Fresh Summit in New Orleans. The convention dates are Oct. 19-21, with the expo running Friday, Oct. 20, and Saturday, Oct. 21.
With 1,000-plus booths and nearly 20,000 attendees from dozens of countries around the world coming together at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in the Big Easy, this year’s Fresh Summit promises to provide not only excellent networking opportunities but also a number of educational roundtables and workshops to discuss looking at global issues, science and technology and produce industry news. And the National Onion Association’s Winter Convention will take place in beautiful Santa Fe, NM, Nov. 29-Dec. 2, at the Inn and Spa at Loretto. Convention registration deadline is Nov. 1, and it can be done online at https://form.jotformpro.com/72354981113960.
Lodging reservations at the Inn and Spa at Loretto should be done by Nov. 7, the NOA website indicates.
The event’s agenda includes committee meetings, a trustees meeting, general session with an educational presentation and several networking/touring opportunities. Of particular note is the Friday, Dec. 1, breakfast and “Food in Focus” interactive panel discussion that will include a recipe developer/cookbook author, pro food stylist/photographer and a rep from one of the trending at-home meal delivery kit services.
During the Friday tour of downtown Santa Fe, NOA members will visit three restaurants and meet the chefs. The Friday night banquet will include installation of officers and awards ceremony, and the closing breakfast meeting on Dec. 2 will include current crop reports.
