Celebrating their historic June 2024 merger, the Texas International Produce Association and the Houston Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association staged another success recently with the first-ever TIPA-HFFVA Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 27 at the prestigious Golf Club of Houston.
The tournament “brought together industry leaders, partners, and friends for a day of competition, camaraderie, and networking,” according to a TIPA press release.
“We are extremely pleased with the success of this inaugural event,” said Kyle Reeves, VP of Business Development for Houston-based Foremost Fresh Direct and TIPA-HFFVA Golf Tournament Chair. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from all participants, especially our generous sponsors who made it all possible. We’re super excited to continue building upon its success in years to come and the growth of the TIPA-HFFVA community.”
The release noted, “The event drew an impressive turnout, reflecting the enthusiasm surrounding the recent merger of the two associations, strengthening the fresh produce supply chain’s engagement in the Houston community. The tournament provided a relaxed platform for players to network with key partners from across the supply chain, solidifying relationships and exploring future opportunities for collaboration.”
Dante Galeazzi, President/CEO of TIPA, remarked, “This tournament was not only about enjoying a round of golf; it was a celebration of unity, growth, and the future of our industry. The merger with HFFVA marks a significant milestone for both associations, and we’re confident this collaboration will benefit our members and the region’s fresh produce community.”

Tournament participants enjoyed a day on the course, which “concluded with a lively awards ceremony,” the release aid. “Several sponsorships, contributed by companies vital to the Houston food supply chain, helped make the event possible, further emphasizing the importance of partnerships in the industry. The tournament followed a Perishable Roundtable meeting held the previous day, hosted by Port Houston at the Custom Goods Services (CGS) facility, in which TIPA-HFFVA was present to work on issues related to perishable commodities.”
