Registration is now open for the United Fresh Washington Conference, an in-person event scheduled for Sept. 20-22 in Washington, D.C.
United Fresh members can register to attend this annual conference on https://www2.unitedfresh.org/forms/meeting/MeetingFormPublic/view?id=82F070000004C.
A full schedule of events has been crafted, allowing for industry members to gather and “shape decisions made in Washington that directly impact your business,” the United Fresh website notes.
In addition to meetings with congressional representatives and other officials, the conference will feature special tours, such as the Sept. 20 Mount Vernon excursion to visit the home of America’s first President, George Washington.
The first day will also include Volunteer Leadership Meetings and a “Produce Advocacy Bootcamp that will “offer simple and effective strategies” as well as taking an in-depth review of key issues and tips on making the congressional meetings impactful.
“Policy Engagement and X-Change Education Sessions” will take place on Tuesday morning, looking at “key topics impacting the fresh produce industry in our nation’s capital.” That afternoon is devoted to congressional connections, as are Wednesday morning and early afternoon.
Among the key topics are the Paycheck Protection Program, the USDA Coronavirus Food Assistance Program and the Farmer to Families Food Box Program, food safety policies, labor and ongoing support for making good nutrition available to the public.
