The 56th Annual Idaho-Oregon Fruit and Vegetable Association Convention is just around the proverbial corner, with a lively roster of speakers, activities and the President’s Banquet. Association President John Orrison of Symms Fruit Ranch is overseeing the event.
Set once again in Shore Lodge in McCall, ID, the convention kicks off Thursday, June 7, with an opening reception, followed later in the evening by a Texas hold-em tourney. Friday’s gets started with a breakfast and industry meeting that will feature speakers from three of associate members sponsoring the morning event. The sponsors are Nichols Accounting in Ontario, OR, JDC Automated Systems in Meridian, ID, Moss Adams LLP and Northwest Farm Credit. Speakers will be from JDC, Moss Adams, and NFC.
The convention golf tourney, which required advance registration, will start at noon on Friday at Whitetail Golf Course in McCall. That evening includes a members’ social hour and the President’s Banquet, where attendees will be treated to a keynote address from Celia Gould, director of the Idaho Department of Agriculture. Following the banquet, a blackjack tourney will test the gambling stamina of the industry.
Saturday, June 9, is chock-full of fun and serious stuff, starting with an early morning poker walk and then a buffet breakfast. The yearly closed business meeting sill start at 8:45 a.m. At noon is the annual Jim Watson Memorial Softball Game at Glove Park in McCall. A family buffet will start at 6 p.m., and the awards ceremony will start at 7:30, followed by an evening of music with Killer Keyz Dueling Pianos.
