Harvest in the Treasure Valley of Idaho-E. Oregon is winding down, with shippers noting excellent conditions throughout the season.
Eagle Eye Produce’s Nyssa, OR, operation has finished bringing in storage onions, according to Dallin Klingler, and grower Dan Corn is featured in the video EEP provided us this week.
“This year’s growing season in E. Oregon has been ideal,” Dallin told us. “We have had mild temperatures and a lot of sun. We started planting in early March, and harvest for Dan on our yellow, red and white crops has completely wrapped up.” He said Eagle Eye acreage in the Treasure Valley has remained stable, and he said, “We have had great yield and quality, and size profiles are very even.” In short, Dallin said, “We are having a great year so far! Volume is up, demand is strong at retail, and foodservice is recovering. Planning for 2021 has begun.”
He added, “It’s a hard year to predict but we are optimistic!”
The video, which provides a tour of EEP’s E. Oregon harvest, showcases Dan’s experience.
“Dan has been farming onions for over 15 years in E. Oregon, and this wealth of knowledge shows in the video as Dan walks you through each step of harvest, from cutting water to loading into storage boxes” Dallin said. “Dan is also able to shed light on this growing and harvest season which has been just about ideal.”
