Oregon state officials have scheduled a town hall in Ontario on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 4-8 p.m. to provide information about insurance coverage, resolve claim dispute, and explain requirements for rebuilding damaged structures.
Oregon Insurance Division, Oregon Construction Contractors Board and state and local building codes staff have been asked by State Rep. Cliff Bentz, R-Ontario, “to identify and explain sources of information and assistance available to farmers, ranchers, businesses, and individuals damaged by snow storms in Malheur County” in the town hall setting at Four Rivers Cultural Center.
One-on-one meetings with officials are available for walk-ins from 4 to 6 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. a forum will provide information for individuals, farmers and businesses pertaining to rebuilding, insurance coverage and claims, and building construction licensing. The Department of Environmental Quality will also have handout information available on safe disposal of asbestos and building materials, as well as landfill locations and availability.
Rep. Bentz said, “I encourage everyone who is looking for information on rebuilding and insurance claims to attend this town hall meeting. These state agencies can help get necessary information into your hands so that we can quickly rebuild our community.”
Stan Jessup, enforcement program manager with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board headquartered in Salem, told OnionBusiness.com on Jan. 31 he will be among those in attendance and will answer questions regarding enforcement. Handouts will be provided, with individual agency contacts included.
