Nick Beahm with Eagle Eye Produce told us his company is currently shipping out of the Five Points and Bakersfield/Lancaster area. “The market is pretty steady right now,” Nick said. “Jumbo yellows are at $14, and there really hasn’t been a drastic change in pricing up or down. Yellows are leading in terms of demand with reds second and whites very close behind.” Nick said there has been some heat slowing production for a couple of days, but he noted it’s nothing major. He commented, “We have really lucked out this year. We have heard about quality issues, but we aren’t seeing any problems with what we are shipping.”
New Mexico:
Nick Beahm with Eagle Eye Produce said the NM market is somewhere between $13 and $14 this week and is “very steady.” He said, “New Mexico did get some rain, which caused some production slow downs for only couple of days. The quality is good, and we haven’t had any issues with this crop.”
Washtington:
Larry Bauman with Onions Direct told OnionBusiness.com on June 20, “We did start transplants in Pasco last week and the size is large. It is also almost perfect weather and growing conditions in our area.
