Within the first few weeks of OnionBusiness.com’s newsgathering process, we found ourselves in contact with an increasing number of spokespersons who represent major onion operations in every production area of the nation and are also part of the emerging Millennial demographic.
And we’ve been impressed! Not only do these young industry members, many of whom are part of multi-generational onion businesses, speak fluent “onionese,” but they are also riding the crest of technology and are spot-on with production and marketing strategies.
Whoever coined the phrase “it’s all good” was speaking specifically of Millennials, YouTube/Facebook/Twitter/Instagram and onions. We’re sure of it. In fact, we’re so sure of it that we’ve created “Onion Trailblazers,” a department on our web site devoted to Millennials that we will fill with frequent stories about their contributions to the marketing and movement of onions.
Coming up, look for our feature on Brennan Sobiech, a New York onion grower whose You Tube videos are nothing short of great!
If you know of a ‘Onion Trailblazer’ that you would like featured in our new series, please CONTACT US!
Going into 2016, OnionBusiness.com will undoubtedly be interviewing a broad range of industry insiders, including veterans whose lives have centered on onions for decades — and each generation following. We’ll continue to provide you with the most up-do-date onion news we can find, AND we’ll talk to the straight-shooters who know the ins and outs. Happily, that includes third, fourth and even fifth generations in our great onion industry.
Here’s to a good end to 2015 and a fantastic start to the New Year!
