Veteran produce broker Tonya McCormick, who formed Tater Traders LLC in June, brings nearly 30 years of onion and potato experience to her new enterprise, and from their offices in Golden, CO, McCormick and transportation specialist Kari Cook work with growers and shippers across the country to provide produce to their customers.
McCormick got her start in the produce industry in 1986 when she went to work for Colorado Potato Growers Exchange in downtown Denver. She was with that company for 15 years, and in 2001 she joined H.R. Bushman and opened a Colorado office for the St. Louis company.
When asked if she meets many women in her day-to-day business, McCormick said there are more in the industry now than when she started.
“It seems that every year a few more women come into the industry,” she said.
She also noted that Tater Traders plans to increase its line of items.
“We’re doing the things we know, and we always keep learning,” she said.
