Longtime onion man and former National Onion Association Vice President Raymond Myruski, 94, passed away Tuesday, May 9, in Boca Raton, FL. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 16, in Goshen, NY.
Mr. Myruski was born June 26, 1928, in Goshen to Gus and Wanda Myruski and for many years was owner/operator of Myruski Farms in his hometown with sons Ron and Greg.
Farming was his passion, and he also served on several local, regional and national organizations. In addition to serving as a councilman for the Town of Goshen, Mr, Myruski also sat on the town’s planning board for 17 years.
He was a life member and former VP of the National Onion Association and a longtime member of the Orange County Vegetable Growers Association. After moving to Florida he continued to be involved with his community and was vice president of the Boca Teeca Condo-Nine Association.
Mr. Myruski is survived by his wife Lois Myruski; son Ronald and wife Patricia of New Hampton, NY; son Greg and wife Chris of Goshen, NY; stepson Chester Williams Jr. of Rock Hill, NY; grandchildren Kimberly Myruski MD and husband David Schedler; Melissa Svec and husband Steve; and Andrew Myruski and wife Shelley. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Ashley, Brock and Paige Schedler; Dylan Svec; and Harper Myruski.
Also surviving are Mr. Myruski’s brother Clyde and wife Barbara and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Cell Bertoni and his brother Clarence.
