With the New Year officially chugging down the rails, onion folks are gearing up for the bevy of 2019 shows and conferences. One of the first is the Southern Produce Exposition put on by the Southeast Produce Council in the Disney neighborhood of Florida each spring, and registration is now open for the March 7-9 event.
Online registration can be done at https://www.cvent.com/events/southern-exposure-2019/registration-17896dad3a3a49faa6a870ec3d13a07d.aspx?fqp=true, and the venue is the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort in Orlando.
There’s a full agenda already published (these folks got it down!) at
http://www.cvent.com/events/southern-exposure-2019/agenda-17896dad3a3a49faa6a870ec3d13a07d.aspx, as well as a list of speakers and topics. Keynote at the conference will be delivered by Dr. Travis Stork, who is a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician and Co-Host of “The Doctors.” Emmy-nominated for his work on the show, Dr. Stork has an impressive list of credentials: He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke University, earned his Doctor of Medicine degree with honors from the University of Virginia and was elected into the prestigious honor society of Alpha Omega Alpha for outstanding academic achievement. He’s a NYT best-selling author of The Doctor’s Diet, The Doctor’s Diet Cookbook, The Lean Belly Prescription and The Doctor Is In: A 7-Step Prescription for Optimal Wellness. His latest book is The Lose Your Belly Diet – Change Your Gut, Change Your Life, released in December 2016.
In addition to great speakers, Southern Exposure will feature of course the Tom Page Golf Classic on opening day, Thursday, March 7.
The educational sessions, which we’ll detail in coming newsletters, will kick off on Friday. The expo, Keynote Luncheon and Dr. Stork’s speech will be on Saturday. As always, this show promises to be packed with timely info, well-versed speakers and panelists and excellent opportunities for the all-important networking. And there’s a good contingent of onion industry folks exhibiting, including Bland Farms, Eagle Eye Produce, Easterday Farms, Keystone Fruit Marketing, L&M, LG Herndon Farms, Onions 52, Peri & Sons, RPE, Shuman Produce, Vidalia Onion Committee, Vidalia Sweet Produce and Wada Farms.
Plus… Florida. March. Yeah.
