The U.K.’s Tong Engineering, a manufacturer of advanced potato and vegetable handling equipment, recently announced expansion internationally with a new Tong USA spares, service, and sales facility in Fremont, MI.
The latest venture comes as part of the Tong’s export strategy to make its complete range of equipment more accessible to the U.S. potato and vegetable industry.
Edward Tong, managing director at Tong Engineering, explained, “We have been doing business in the United States for many years.” He said that over the last couple of years business in this country has significantly increased, meaning more frequent trips to visit customers and to exhibit at trade shows and other events specific to potatoes and vegetables.
“With this in mind, alongside the potential to better serve and expand our business in the USA, we felt it was now time to have a physical presence in the market,” Tong added. “We are very pleased to announce the opening of the dedicated new Tong USA facility, cementing our commitment to the market.”
The new Tong USA office in Fremont will provide additional support to Tong US customers, strengthening spares and service backup with a wide range of spare parts available and providing a quick turnaround when those parts are needed the most.
“The Fremont-based office brings us a place to meet with customers who operate locally and a base from which we will continue to visit our customers located all over the USA,” Tong said. “The new Tong USA office team will also be on hand at the office to take care of sales, spares and service inquiries for all U.S. customers.”
