The United Fresh Virtual Washington Conference will feature some high-powered speakers “addressing crucial issues at the forefront of the produce industry,” with reps from both the Trump and Biden campaigns providing their candidate’s input.

During the opening General Session, headlines “Advocating for the Fresh Produce Industry,” from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, speakers will include Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue; Michael Muzyk, President Baldor Specialty Foods; Chairman United Fresh; Tom Stenzel, President and CEO United Fresh; Robert Guenther, Senior Vice President, Public Policy United Fresh; and Dr. Jennifer McEntire, Senior Vice President, Food Safety United Fresh.
The session will look at how the industry works together to feed the nation and indeed the world by keeping the supply chain moving, with more than $4.5 billion in government funding invested in supporting the industry.
The Election 2020 Live! General Session will run from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, and speakers in that sure-to-be lively forum will be Ray Starling, President Donald Trump Campaign Representative and former chief of staff to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue; and Tom Vilsack, Vice President Joe Biden Campaign Representative and former United States Secretary of Agriculture. Following the forum will be an insightful session with pollster Frank Luntz, who will share “his insights into how the election is likely to unfold.”
On Thursday, Sept. 24, a “Bi-partisan Approach to Governing” session will run from noon-1 p.m. Speakers will be Rep. Rodney Davis, R-IL 13, and Rep. Jimmy Panetta, D-CA 20. The two U.S. legislators will address “how COVID-19 has positively impacted relationships between some Members of Congress,” sharing “lessons that may help lead to a more bipartisan Congress in 2021 and beyond.”
